Based in Chelmsford, Essex, Spokes is a fully equipped Bicycle Servicing Workshop using specialist quality tools, components and consumables.
Through our extensive supplier network we are able to source a wide range of products and components from most major brands such as Campagnolo, Continental, FSA, Shimano and SRAM.
We offer a range of services and servicing options to suit your bike, your cycling needs and your budget and we are more than happy to share our expertise and discuss all and any issues whether by phone or preferably face to face.
Whether your bike needs a quick check over, a bit of TLC, a complete facelift and upgrade or something in between, we offer our experience and a frank and honest assessment so that you can decide on the level of service that suits you and gives you the most benefit and enjoyment from your bike.
Inspection/Safety Check
From £50 (not including parts)
Think of this as your bike MOT. It is important to make sure that your bike is safe to ride and that everything is in good working order. Ideal for bikes that have been laid up for a little while or for bikes that require a slightly more basic service.
BOLTS
Check and adjust to correct torque.
WHEELS
Check for alignment and play. Adjust hubs if applicable.
TYRES
Inspect and inflate to recommended pressure.
DRIVETRAIN
Inspect and adjust if applicable.
CHAIN
Inspect, clean & lube.
HEADSET
Check for movement and adjust if applicable.
BRAKES
Adjust/Balance.
GEARS
Adjust derailleur travel.
CABLES
Check condition & tension.
BOTTOM BRACKET
Check & adjust if applicable.
Spokes Full Service
From £85 (not including parts)
Ideal for bikes that are used regularly and require a more involved service to ensure optimum performance is restored. The Spokes Service increases the performance, enjoyment and life of the bike and often identifies what could turn out to be more expensive problems in the future.
CHAIN
Check for wear/stretch, degrease, clean & lube.
WHEELS
Remove. Degrease/clean Rims. Inspect/regrease Hubs. Adjust/lock Cones. Inspect Spokes. True Wheels.
CASSETTE/FREEWHEEL
Remove. Degrease, clean and check for wear. Inspect Hub body for damage. Refit and lock.
TYRES
Inspect for wear and inflate to recommended pressure.
DERAILLEURS
Degrease, clean and lube. Check for wear.
PEDALS
Remove. Clean/regrease threads.
CHAINSET/CRANKS
Degrease, clean and check for wear. Clean/regrease Crank Bolt threads. Check/adjust Chainset Bolts.
BOTTOM BRACKET
Check for movement/ingress. Adjust where applicable.
FRAME & FORKS
Degrease, clean and finish with Bike Polish. Inspect for damage.
HEADSET
Check for movement/ingress. Degrease, clean, inspect for wear and regrease Bearings where applicable.
BRAKE CALIPERS
Degrease, clean and lube. Adjust and balance.
RIM BRAKE PADS
Inspect for wear and re-align. Replace where necessary.
DISC BRAKE PADS
Remove. Inspect for wear/contamination, clean and recentre. Replace where necessary.
DISC BRAKE ROTORS
Clean and inspect for damage. Re-align where applicable.
BRAKE & SHIFT CABLES
Flush thru’ and lube Outers. Check Inners for corrosion/fraying & lube. Replace where necessary.
GEARS
Adjust Derailleur travel. Adjust/tune Cable tension.
ROAD TEST
Give your bike a spin (weather permitting) to check everything is working under load.
SPOKES FULL SERVICE PLUS (POA)
For those bikes that are more heavily used or the specification requires that little bit extra. This will include all of the above & could include any or all of the following.
SERVICEABLE BOTTOM BRACKET
Remove chainset. Degrease, clean & lube bearings. Refit & torque chainset.
SERVICEABLE FREEHUB BODY
Remove. Degrease, clean & lube pawls, springs & seals.
INTERNAL CABLING
Remove & Replace.
DIRTY BOY
Heavily soiled components removed and degreased in bio parts washer. Frame and wheelset wash down and clean.
Strip Down & Rebuild
From £140 (not including parts)
This is our most comprehensive service that involves a full strip down and rebuild including a full bike and component service & clean. Ideal for bikes that are heavily used or need a complete facelift.
Bike Builds
Out of the Box Bike Build From £45
Whether you require a complete out of the box bike build, you have put a bike together and require a once over, or you have taken delivery of a bike and you’re not one hundred percent sure. Spokes Bike Build Service offers customers peace of mind and the confidence that their bike is both safe to ride and performing correctly.
Complete Bike Build (POA)
Bike building from the bottom up. We are happy to offer our knowledge and expertise at any stage in your bike build so that your dream bike doesn’t end up as a nightmare.
Upgrades
POA
Over time parts will wear out or you might want to get that bit more out of your ride. You might need an extra gear or two or might just be looking to treat yourself.
If you have been out and bought a shiny new set of wheels or splashed out to upgrade your groupset or whatever and you’re not sure how to swap over or fit then contact us to see if we can help.
We do have access to a whole range of products and technical support through our extensive supplier network and we are always happy to talk through your options and give you an estimate.
